What is Psilocybin?
Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain species of mushrooms. It is known for its ability to produce the “psychedelic experience”, characterized by an expanded state of consciousness, including the ability to amplify emotions, alter perceptions of time, space, and reality, and occasion mystical-like insights. Psilocybin-containing mushrooms have been used for centuries in traditional spiritual and medicinal practices, and more recently psilocybin has been the subject of scientific research for its potential to help with a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and addiction. In recent years, psilocybin has gained a reputation as a "miracle" compound and has garnered significant attention in the media and among the general public. Despite its growing popularity and therapeutic potential, however, psilocybin is a Schedule 1 substance and is illegal in many countries.
